International Conference is organized by the Association of Professors of English and Translation at Arab Universities (APETAU) in collaboration with the University of Jordan (JU).

will be held during the period Wednesday-Friday 23-25 August 2006. Conference Site

The conference registration fee is as follows:

APETAU Members: JD 10 (= approx. US$ 15)
• Non-APETAU Participants: JD 30 (= approx. US$ 43).
The fee is payable upon arrival and covers the cost of: conference kit; transportation from hotel to conference site and vice versa; local telephone calls while on conference site; tea, coffee and soft drinks during breaks; lunches for three days on university campus; and at least one visit to touristic/historic sites in Jordan. Region Hotel: The best offer that

Location: The Region Hotel is located in the heart of the Dahiet Al-Rasheed area, overlooking the most beautiful and breathtaking view of the capital of Amman. Only 10 minutes drive from the city center and 35 minutes drive from Queen Alia International Airport.
Accommodation: All rooms and suites are spacious, centrally air-conditioned and equipped with every modern amenity such as direct-dial telephones, color TV, video channel, satellite system, radio, minibar, and private bathroom with hair dryer. Also available are 24 hour room service, laundry and dry cleaning, and free safety deposit boxes.
Dining: You can enjoy your meal at one of the restaurants; Ma'in Restaurant and Bar or Jerash Restaurant where Oriental and International cuisine are served.

Before Arriving in Amman
Entry Visas: Before making travel arrangements, colleagues are kindly requested to check with the nearest Jordanian consulate in their countries to obtain an entry visa in good time if they are required to do so. In applying for a visa kindly show the official letter of invitation and/or the official statement that your paper has been accepted for presentation at
APETAU 3rd International Conference. Please emphasize the fact that this conference is sponsored by the University of Jordan and that it is currently advertised on
APETAU website (www.APETAU.org.)
Arriving in Amman
Arriving at Queen Alia International Airport: Colleagues who arrive at Queen Alia International Airport may take the Airport Bus or the Airport Taxi. The Airport Bus departs every hour and takes you downtown (for approx. US$4) where you can take a taxi to the Region Hotel for approx. 3 JD. Airport Taxis are available day and night and are quite safe but they cost more (around US$ 25).
Expected Date of Arrival: Colleagues coming from other countries are expected to arrive in Amman on Tuesday afternoon/evening (22 August).
Association Journal (IJAES)
IJAES VOL. 7 will be out by August 2006 in order for conference participants to get their copies on conference site. As of 2003 abstracts of all papers published in
IJAES appear on IJAES website www.IJAES.org.
IJAES VOL. 8 (2007) will contain a selection of the papers presented in
APETAU 3rd International Conference and will appear in 2007.

Most international currencies may be exchanged for local (Jordanian) currency at hotels, banks and bureau de change. However, the foreign currency that is most frequently used and whose rate of exchange is shown in daily newspapers is the $ U.S.
Time: Jordan is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.
Weather: There are four seasons:
winter (December-February), spring (March-May), summer (June- August) and autumn (September-November). The weather in Amman is moderate and dry in summer (27-35 degrees
°C) and not so cold in winter (5 degrees °C). Snow occasionally falls between the end of December and the beginning of February, and accumulates, when it does, in the hilly areas including the University of Jordan Campus.
